    What's the story

Astronomy enthusiasts and skygazers around the world will be able to watch five eclipses in 2019, two of which will be visible in India.

It'll start with a partial solar eclipse on January 6, though it'll not be visible in India, said Dr. Rajendraprakash Gupta, Superintendent of the Ujjain-based Jiwaji Observatory.

The first solar eclipse will be visible in East Asia and Pacific.

Eclipses till July 3 will not be visible in India

On January 21, a total lunar eclipse will take place which too would not be visible in India as it would be daytime here, Gupta informed.

It will be visible in Europe, Africa, North-South America, and Atlantic.

Similarly, a total solar eclipse that will occur on July 2-3 will not be visible in India as it would be night here, he said.

    Take a note

Last two eclipses of 2019 to be visible in India

A partial lunar eclipse set to take place on July 16-17 will be visible in India as well as an annular (ring-shaped) solar eclipse on December 26, said Gupta.

Places where it'll be visible other than India are Pacific, Australia, and Africa.

Like 2019, this year too saw five eclipses, two of which were total lunar eclipses and three were partial solar eclipses.
