Hyderabad: Fake call center scams Australians of crores

India

A fake call center in Hyderabad's Madhapur, run under the name "Ridge IT Solutions," tricked Australians out of ₹8-10 crore over two years.
The scammers sent pop-ups and emails claiming victims' computers were hacked, then convinced people to call a number where operators, trained for cyber fraud operations, gained remote access, stole banking details, and moved money to accounts controlled by Indian nationals.

How the scam worked—and what's next

Police have arrested nine people, including the main organizers from Khammam and several tele-callers from Kolkata.
The gang used AnyDesk software for remote access and laundered stolen funds through hawala and cryptocurrency channels.
Officers seized computers, phones, routers, and data tied to 45 Australian bank accounts.
Investigations are ongoing as police track down more suspects and warn everyone: don't trust random calls or messages asking for your personal info or money.
