IAF pilot dies in Dubai air show crash

India

Wing Commander Namansh Syal from the Indian Air Force lost his life on Friday when his Tejas fighter jet crashed just after takeoff during a display at the Dubai Air Show.
The accident brought the show to a sudden halt and emergency teams rushed in right away.

What happens next

The IAF has launched an official inquiry to find out what caused the crash, with eyewitnesses describing how the plane suddenly dropped from the sky.
Indian diplomats in Dubai paid their respects, and Syal's remains were flown home with military honors.
The tragedy has cast a shadow over one of the world's biggest air shows, which runs until November 24.
