IMD forecasts continued rainfall in Delhi, issues yellow alert
Delhi just got its monsoon rains two days late, with the IMD saying the southwest monsoon has covered all of India nine days ahead of schedule.
On Sunday, parts of the city saw light showers—Palam got 10.2mm and Safdarjung 4.8mm.
Yellow alert for Monday
The IMD has put out a yellow alert for Monday, expecting moderate rain and temps between 26°C and 32°C.
Good news: the rain brought much-needed relief from the heat, dropping temperatures by over 4°C.
Not-so-great news: waterlogging led to traffic jams at busy spots like India Gate and NH-8, though teams were quick to clear things up.
Delhi's air quality improves to 'satisfactory'
Thanks to the showers, Delhi's air quality improved to a "satisfactory" AQI of 83—a welcome break for a city used to smoggy skies.
The IMD says more monsoon action is on the way for northern India soon!
