India Meteorological Department: Southwest monsoon advances into 6 states
The southwest monsoon is making quick progress, now reaching deeper into Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, Telangana, Odisha, Jharkhand, and Bihar.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the monsoon line currently stretches from Solapur to Hyderabad and all the way up to Ranchi and Muzaffarpur, so expect more rainy days if you're in these areas.
IMD forecasts rain until June 19
The IMD says the monsoon will keep moving over the next few days, bringing showers to more parts of Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, and Bihar.
After some moderate to heavy rain in northwest India, including Delhi, this week, a yellow alert is out for several northern states.
As IMD scientist Naresh Kumar puts it: rainfall will reduce, but light to moderate rainfall will continue until June 19. So, keep your umbrella handy!
