India requests pause on Kishanganga-Ratle disputes

India has asked the World Bank's neutral expert to pause discussions over two hydropower projects, after suspending its participation in the Indus Waters Treaty (IWT) back in April.
The IWT, which dates back to 1960, splits up river water between India and Pakistan—eastern rivers for India, western ones for Pakistan.

Pakistan wants talks to continue

Pakistan isn't happy about the pause and wants talks to continue.
Even with the treaty on hold, India is moving ahead with its hydropower work and has started regular sediment-clearing on the Chenab River—something Pakistan previously blocked.
The next meeting with the neutral expert is set for November, so this water-sharing debate isn't over yet.
