COVID-19 vaccination for 12-14 years begins; here's how to register
India on Wednesday started vaccination of children aged 12 to 14 years as it expands its COVID-19 vaccination coverage. As per government guidelines, the vaccine to be administered in this particular age group would be Corbevax, manufactured by Hyderabad-based Biological E. Reportedly, around 7.11 crore children are expected to be vaccinated in this age group. Here is how you can register your child.
- India has been rapidly expanding its vaccination coverage since it was rolled out on January 16, 2021, with healthcare workers getting inoculated in the first phase.
- Subsequently, it was expanded to frontline workers, those above 60 and those over 45 with comorbidities. Later, it was opened for all above 18.
- On January 3, 2022, it was further extended to include adolescents aged 15-18 years.
It is not mandatory to register online to get vaccinated. Beneficiaries can both register online or walk into vaccination centers where the vaccination staff can register a beneficiary. Reportedly, vaccination centers will provide for a limited number of on-spot registration slots every day. However, all beneficiaries are recommended to register online and schedule vaccination in advance for a hassle-free vaccination experience.
