India wants Bangladesh to move faster on verifying the nationality of illegal immigrants so they can be sent back.
At a recent briefing, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal shared that more than 2,862 cases are still pending, some for over five years, which is slowing things down.

Bangladesh's foreign minister criticized India's "push in" actions, but India insists repatriation should follow agreed rules.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma recently pushed back 20 foreign nationals and said, "Assam will fight, Pushbacks will continue,".
The situation is getting more attention after Bharatiya Janata Party's wins in eastern states.
