Indian Army to get rapid-fire guns for better air defense
The Indian Army is set to procure six AK-630 rapid-fire air defense guns from Advanced Weapon and Equipment India Ltd, aiming to better protect towns and places of worship near the Pakistan border and Line of Control.
This upgrade is part of Mission Sudarshan Chakra, a big plan to build a layered air and missile shield across India by 2035.
Each gun can fire 3,000 rounds per minute
The AK-630 can unleash 3,000 rounds per minute and hit targets up to four kilometers away.
With its advanced Electro-Optical Fire Control, it can spot and take down drones, rockets, or mortars—even in bad weather—helping keep vulnerable areas safer from surprise aerial threats.
Mission Sudarshan Chakra aims to create a multi-layered missile shield
Mission Sudarshan Chakra is India's push for a self-reliant defense system under Aatmanirbhar Bharat.
By 2035, the goal is to link up satellites, radars, interceptor missiles, directed-energy weapons, and AI-powered threat detection—kind of like building our own Iron Dome—to protect both strategic sites and everyday communities.
