Indian students fueling international enrollment in Kazakhstan
Kazakhstan welcomed 31,500 international students last year—the most it's ever had. The government's aiming even higher, with a goal of 100,000 by 2028.
They're making it happen through the "Study in Kazakhstan" campaign, signing dozens of global partnerships and opening up branches of foreign universities to make campus life more diverse.
Branches of foreign universities in Kazakhstan
To boost its academic scene, Kazakhstan has teamed up with schools from 12 countries and now hosts 23 branches of foreign universities—including big names like De Montfort, Coventry, Cardiff, and joint projects like Colorado School of Mines with Nazarbayev University.
More students from Asia than CIS countries
For the first time ever, more students are arriving from Asia (especially India and China) than from neighboring CIS countries.
Over 17,000 Asian students are now enrolled compared to about 13,000 from the CIS.
This shift shows how Kazakhstan is becoming a real education hub for the region—something that could open up new opportunities for everyone studying there.
