K-6 hypersonic missile: India's new naval superweapon
India is working on the K-6, a powerful new missile designed to launch from its future S-5 nuclear submarines.
Built by DRDO's Advanced Naval Systems Laboratory, the K-6 aims to give India's navy a serious edge with faster speeds, longer range, and bigger payloads—strengthening security at sea.
K-6 missile can travel at hypersonic speeds
The K-6 missile can carry hefty warheads and flies at hypersonic speeds (up to Mach 7.5 or about 9,261km/h) and can reach targets as far as 8,000km away.
Thanks to MIRV tech, it can hit several targets in one go—making it tough for defenses to stop.
K-6 helps complete India's nuclear triad
This missile marks a big leap from India's current underwater arsenal (like the K-4 and K-5).
Alongside the Agni-5 ICBM, the K-6 helps complete India's "nuclear triad"—meaning land, air, and sea-based nuclear capability—putting India in an exclusive global club of advanced military tech.
