Karnataka HC delays decision on RCB executive's bail plea

India

Nikhil Sosale, the marketing head of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), was arrested after a deadly stampede during the team's IPL victory celebrations near Chinnaswamy Stadium, which left 11 people dead and several injured. The Karnataka High Court has reserved its decision on his request for interim relief and will announce the order on June 12.

State says responsible for chaos

In court, the state argued that Sosale was responsible since RCB invited fans online and held the event without proper permission. His lawyer pushed back, saying employees shouldn't be blamed when only the company is named in official complaints. The main question now is whether Sosale's arrest was legal—not just about who organized what.

Several police officials suspended

After the incident, several police officials—including Bengaluru's police commissioner—were suspended as authorities look into how crowd control failed. The tragedy has sparked bigger questions about how large public events are managed in future.
