Kashmiris duped in fake NHM job selection scam

India

Five people have been booked in Kashmir for running a fake job selection scam linked to the National Health Mission (NHM).
They allegedly circulated a forged "Provisional Selection List" on social media, which left many confused and worried.
The accused—Abdul Qayoom Naik, Abdul Qayoom Khan, Mohammad Ashraf Hurrah, Mushtaq Ahmad Sofi, and Hilal Ahmad Bahar—targeted volunteers recruited during the pandemic by promising them permanent NHM jobs in exchange for documents and money.

Accused even forged NHM Mission Director's signature

Investigators found that the group misused an NGO's status to collect personal info and cash from hopefuls, even forging the signature of the NHM Mission Director to make their list look real.
They're now facing charges including cheating, forgery, using fake documents, and criminal conspiracy under the RPC, plus IT Act violations.
The EOW is still digging into the case.
