Kathua prepares for Amarnath pilgrims with 36 centers

Big changes are happening at Lakhanpur, the main entry point for this year's Amarnath Yatra. Authorities have set up 36 lodgement centers and six RFID registration counters to make things smoother for the huge number of visitors. Deputy Commissioner Rakesh Minhas says they're focusing on clean toilets and even entertainment zones so pilgrims feel comfortable during their journey.
Over 3.5 lakh pilgrims registered for yatra
With over 3.5 lakh pilgrims already registered, the yatra—starting July 3—looks set for a record crowd. There are two routes to choose from: a scenic 48-km trek via Pahalgam or a shorter, 14-km path from Baltal. Security is tight this year, with agencies working together on traffic control and anti-narcotics checks to help everyone have a safe trip.
