What's the story

Vishnu Nandkumar, an assistant manager at Palarivattom branch of Kotak Mahindra Bank in Kochi, lost his job (and rightly so) for justifying the horrendous action unleashed upon the 8-year-old rape victim of Kathua. Nandkumar had posted, "Good that the girl has been killed at this age, otherwise she would have become a bomb against India in future" on Facebook, stirring a massive uproar on social media.

'We condemn the statement', says Kotak Mahindra Bank

The statement from bank read, "We have terminated Vishnu Nandkumar from the services of the bank on Wednesday, April 11, 2018, for poor performance. It is extremely disheartening to see such comments being made in the aftermath of such tragedy by anyone including an ex-employee."

'This is unacceptable'

Former banker's statement sparks outrage on social media

The horrific treatment the 8-year-old was subjected to outraged the entire country. The demand for strictest punishment for guilty grew louder. Amid this, Vishnu's comment on the matter was obviously swallowed like a bitter medicine by Twitter users. A large number of Twitter users wanted Kotak to sack their employee, and the organization obliged. Vishnu has deactivated his Facebook account after the controversy.
