Kerala HC slams TDB for missing gold-plated panels at Sabarimala
The Kerala High Court has called out the Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) for failing to protect gold-plated panels that vanished from Sabarimala temple's Dwarapalaka idols during 2019 restoration work.
The court flagged major gaps in TDB's records—there was no official note about handing over the idols to the main accused or the company that worked on them.
Now, a special investigation team (SIT) has been given the go-ahead for a scientific probe to figure out what really happened to the missing gold.
HC orders probe into possible corruption by officials
The SIT's latest report pointed out that key documents are missing—including any record of who received the idols in 2019.
The court has ordered a detailed check of how much gold was there before and after restoration, and wants possible corruption by officials investigated too.
So far, three people have been arrested—including a former TDB officer accused of faking records—and police are still tracking down exactly how much gold went missing during renovations.
