Kerala medical college teachers on strike

India

Medical college teachers across Kerala have started a strike, putting a pause on most classes and non-emergency hospital services.
The protest follows failed talks with the government.
Teachers are asking for overdue pay from a 2020 revision, more assistant professor jobs, fairer salaries, and better staffing to avoid constant temporary transfers.

Patient care, students' education affected

With regular teaching and hospital care disrupted in all government medical colleges (except for emergencies), students' education and patient care are both taking a hit.
The teachers' group says if their demands aren't met soon, the strike could be intensified.
