Kerala woman commits suicide after public humiliation

In Kannur, Kerala, a 40-year-old woman named Raseena died by suicide after being publicly shamed for speaking to a male friend.
Three men—allegedly linked to the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI), an offshoot of the banned Popular Front of India (PFI)—confronted her and her friend in public, called her family over, and insulted her.
They also put her friend through a "mob trial" and took his digital devices.
