Kerala's health tips for Sabarimala pilgrims: Stay safe this season

India

Heading to Sabarimala this year?
Kerala's health department has issued some important advice to keep everyone safe, especially from rare infections like brain fever.
They're asking devotees who bathe in rivers to make sure no water enters their noses, to stick with any regular meds, and to do light exercise in the days leading up to the pilgrimage.

What else to know on your pilgrimage

Take it easy on the climbs—pace yourself and rest up.
If you feel super tired or have chest pain, don't ignore it; get medical help right away.
Only drink boiled water, wash hands before eating, and use proper toilets (no open defecation).
Medical teams and ambulances are ready along the route, food stalls are being checked for safety, and there are 24/7 help centers if you need anything.
