Maharashtra man murders young stepson, dumps body in forest
In Akola, Maharashtra, a 38-year-old man named Akash Kanherkar has been accused of murdering his nine-year-old stepson, Darshan Palaskar.
Early Wednesday morning, Kanherkar allegedly strangled Darshan and left his body in a nearby forest.
When Darshan didn't come home, his mother reported him missing.
Massive search for missing boy leads to his murderer
Police reviewed CCTV footage showing Darshan walking with Kanherkar before he vanished.
After being questioned, Kanherkar confessed to the crime and said he took Darshan to the forest with help from his friend Gaurav Gaigole. Both men were arrested.
A massive search involving 60 officers led to finding Darshan's body in a gunny bag after 12 hours.
The police are still investigating why the murder happened as both suspects remain in custody.
