Maharashtra student dies by suicide after alleged assault over language

Arnav Jitendra Khaire, a 19-year-old science student from Kelkar College, died by suicide after reportedly being assaulted on a local train after being questioned for not speaking Marathi.
According to reports, four or five passengers confronted him about his language, leading to an altercation.
After getting off at Thane station and returning home, Arnav took his own life later that night.

Mental health struggles and calls for investigation

Following the incident, Arnav experienced severe anxiety and confided in his father about how shaken he felt.
He was found dead at home that evening. His father believes the trauma from the assault led to Arnav's suicide and is demanding a thorough investigation.
Police have registered an accidental death case and are working to obtain CCTV footage from the train as part of their ongoing probe, while community members are calling for an independent inquiry into the alleged attack.
