Mamata Banerjee visits Mirik landslide site, announces compensation
After devastating landslides and floods hit Mirik, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee visited the area to meet affected families and hand out compensation checks.
She assured everyone that the government will help rebuild damaged infrastructure and support those who lost loved ones.
CM's announcement for bereaved families
A temporary bridge reconnecting Mirik to the plains is set to be ready in 15 days, with a permanent bridge coming within a year.
Each bereaved family will receive ₹5 lakh. The government is also providing extra financial help, food, tarpaulins and blankets, and running community kitchens until people can safely return home.
Special camps are being set up so anyone who lost important documents can get them reissued quickly—helping life in Mirik get back on track as soon as possible.
