If you need to hit the bank, heads up: many branches across India will be closed from September 12-15 thanks to a mix of weekend holidays and regional festivals.
The usual second Saturday and Sunday closures line up with Ganesh Chaturthi on September 14 and Nuakhai on September 15, so expect extra downtime for banking.
Bank unions cite government approval delays
Goa and Odisha will see banks shut for all four days, while Maharashtra, Karnataka, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, and Andhra Pradesh get a three-day break.
On top of that, bank employees just wrapped up a nationwide strike on September 11, pushing for a five-day workweek and better benefits.
UFBU reps said they're frustrated by delays in government approval after the settlement in March 2024, which had been pending for 30 months.
