Multi-Vehicle collision involving deportee convoy in Bhatan tunnel
Early Wednesday, a police convoy transporting 160 alleged illegal Bangladeshi immigrants to Pune's Lohegaon Airport for deportation crashed inside the Bhatan Tunnel on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway.
The accident happened after a container trailer overturned and blocked two lanes; as a crane worked to clear it, one police van braked suddenly and hit the crane, causing six vans to collide in a chain reaction.
