Mumbai: Man assaults doctors after mother-in-law's death
At R.N. Cooper Government Hospital in Mumbai, three doctors were assaulted early Friday morning by a relative of a 65-year-old woman who died during emergency treatment.
The woman was admitted with severe breathlessness and weakness, but despite the team's efforts—including CPR—she passed away just after midnight.
Case filed against man for assaulting public servants
Moments after her death, her relative, Sameer Abdul Jabbar Shaikh, reportedly punched one doctor several times and injured two others right inside the casualty ward.
Shockingly, security staff didn't step in to help. Police have now filed a case against Shaikh for assaulting public servants.
The hospital has accused security staff of negligence and dereliction of duty. The injured doctors are stable, and investigations are ongoing.
