Mumbai's ₹13,000cr 29.2-km coastal road linking Nariman Point and Bhayandar
Mumbai's getting a huge upgrade with the ₹13,000 crore Coastal Road Project, a 29.2-km, eight-lane expressway connecting Nariman Point to Bhayandar.
The goal? To cut down traffic jams on the Western Express Highway (which carries nearly 60% of the city's traffic) and seriously reduce travel time, especially with the Versova-Bandra Sea Link expected by March 2028.
Bandra-Versova March 2028 Versova-Bhayandar December 2028
The Bandra-Versova section should be ready by March 2028, and Versova-Bhayandar by December 2028, meaning smoother rides between South Mumbai and the suburbs soon.
Construction is moving along with a "war-room" monitoring progress, and Chief Minister Fadnavis says they're taking care of environmental concerns by boosting mangrove cover and planting more trees, even as metro lines keep expanding across the city.
