Murder convict caught after 36 years hiding in plain sight
India
Pradeep Kumar Saxena, convicted of murdering his brother in Bareilly back in 1989, was finally arrested after spending 36 years on the run.
He escaped during parole, changed his name to Abdul Rahim, converted to Islam, and quietly built a new life as a driver in Moradabad—going so far as to get married and live in the community.
How he was found and what happens next
The Allahabad High Court ordered police to track him down, which led investigators to discover he'd recently returned to Bareilly.
Police picked him up, where he admitted who he really was and confessed to breaking parole.
Now back in custody after decades of evading justice, Saxena was produced in court for murder and theft charges.
