Murder disguised as wild elephant attack uncovered
A 42-year-old tribal woman named Seetha was found dead in Idukki's Meenmutty reserve forest on a Friday. While her husband Binu claimed she was killed by a wild elephant, a post-mortem showed she actually died from severe injuries like broken ribs and blunt force trauma to the head—pointing to murder, not an animal attack. Police and forest officials also noticed there were no elephants in the area that day, and Binu's story didn't quite add up.
Investigation underway; no compensation yet
Peerumade Deputy Superintendent of Police Vishal Johnson is leading the investigation. No arrests have been made yet as police wait for a detailed post-mortem report before moving forward. Since Seetha's death doesn't fit with human-wildlife conflict cases, authorities have paused any compensation payouts while they work to uncover what really happened and who might be responsible.
