New government guidelines for safer cab rides

Big update if you use cabs or bike taxis—India's transport ministry just rolled out new rules to make app-based rides safer and more transparent.
Now, if a driver goes off-route, the control room must be alerted right away. Plus, there are fresh guidelines for insurance, tracking, and who can drive.

TL;DR

What's new in the guidelines?

You'll now get at least ₹5 lakh insurance every ride, and driver details stay accessible for a week after your trip—handy if you forget something or need to follow up.
Real-time GPS tracking is mandatory to keep trips safe. States can also allow private bikes as taxis (think less traffic and pollution).
Apps have to verify drivers properly and add more electric and disability-friendly vehicles. Overall: safer rides, better accountability, and a push toward greener travel.
