New regulations for EOL vehicles from July 1
From July 1, Delhi will start cracking down on end-of-life (EOL) vehicles—diesel cars over 10 years old and petrol ones over 15—by denying them fuel and impounding them if found at petrol pumps or public places.
This is part of a bigger push to tackle air pollution in the city.
How the enforcement will work
More than 500 fuel stations now have special cameras that scan number plates and check if your ride is too old.
If you're flagged, no fuel for you—and enforcement teams will show up to take your vehicle away for scrapping.
Fines are steep: ₹10,000 for four-wheelers and ₹5,000 for two-wheelers.
There'll also be regular drives to spot EOL vehicles parked around the city.
NCR also gets covered in this plan
This isn't just a Delhi thing—starting November, five NCR districts will join in, with the whole region covered by April 2026.
With over 62 lakh EOL vehicles (including a whopping 41 lakh two-wheelers) still on Delhi roads—and older models polluting way more than newer ones—the crackdown aims to make a real dent in city smog.
