'No Ahindus in India': RSS chief Bhagwat calls India a Hindu nation

India

RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat said at an event in Assam that India is already a Hindu Rashtra—no official label needed.
He claimed, "Bharat and Hindu are synonymous," and that anyone proud of the country is considered Hindu, regardless of religion.
According to him, there are "no Ahindus (non-Hindus)" in India.

Catch up quick:

Bhagwat explained that being Hindu means sharing Indian culture and ancestry.
He said only Hindus can join RSS, but Muslims or Christians can come to the Sangh "but keep your separateness out."
The Catholic Bishops's Conference of India (CBCI) pushed back, calling his view "misleading and deceptive," and emphasized everyone's right to follow their own faith under India's secular constitution.
