Over 100 minors rescued from Raipur factory for 'bonded labor'
India
Over 100 kids, mostly from tribal areas across five states, were just rescued by local authorities following intervention by the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) from a mushroom factory in Raipur.
They'd been working long hours in tough and unsafe conditions, including exposure to harmful chemicals like formaldehyde.
How it happened and what's next
This all started when the NGO Association for Voluntary Action (AVA) reported that local agents had trafficked and exploited these children.
NHRC's Priyank Kanoongo demanded action against those responsible.
Right now, the rescued kids are safe in childcare homes while police continue their investigation.
