Panjab University exams postponed as student protests heat up
Panjab University has pushed back all exams set for November 18-20, 2024, because students are protesting and demanding the announcement of the overdue Senate poll schedule.
The university says new exam dates will be shared soon, so students should keep an eye on official updates.
Why are students protesting?
The 'Panjab University Bachao Morcha' is leading the charge, demanding the university finally announce a schedule for Senate polls—something that's been delayed for over a year.
Even after the Ministry of Education dropped its governance restructuring plan on November 7, protests haven't stopped.
Political parties like AAP, SAD, Congress, and several farmers' groups are backing the movement.
SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal even met with protesters to show support and emphasized how important the university's independence is to Punjab.
