PMO pushes Delhi and NCR to speed up electric vehicle switch

India

The Prime Minister's Office wants Delhi and nearby states to move faster on electric vehicles.
Turns out, Delhi has over half of the region's nearly 3 crore vehicles—even though it's a tiny part of the area—and more than a third still run on outdated, polluting emission standards.

Why should you care?

Delhi's air just hit 'Severe' levels, with pollution readings way above what's considered safe.
Cars and other vehicles now cause most of the winter pollution since farm fires have dropped.
The government is pushing for more EVs and better rules to help clean up the air—because everyone deserves to breathe a little easier.
