    President Kovind arrives in Jammu for two-day maiden visit

    President Ram Nath Kovind has today arrived in Jammu on his two-day maiden visit to the winter capital of Jammu and Kashmir. He is being accompanied by First Lady Savita Kovind. The President was received by Governor NN Vohra, Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, Legislative Assembly Speaker Kavinder Gupta, and Legislative Council Chairman Haji Anayat Ali at the Technical airport here, a spokesperson said.

    Kovind would address the sixth convocation of SMVDU University

    Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh and Revenue Minister Abdul Rehman Veeri were among those who received the president. Ram Nath Kovind would address the sixth convocation of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) at Katra today.

    Over 880 scholars to receive degrees at the event

    Over 880 scholars would receive degrees and merit certificates at the ceremony. Founder and Chairman of Bharti Enterprises, Sunil Bharti Mittal, and Chairman-cum-Managing Director of Munjal Auto Engineering Limited, Sudhir Munjal, would be conferred honorary doctorate by SMVDU on the occasion. The spokesperson said a civic reception would be held at the Amar Mahal Lawns in Jammu to honor Kovind later in the day.
