Pune bridge collapse: PM Modi's intervention
A bridge over the Indrayani River near Talegaon-Indori in Pune collapsed on Saturday, sending several vehicles and people into the water. Sadly, two lives were lost and 32 others were injured. Prime Minister Modi—currently in Cyprus—called Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and assured all possible support from the central government to handle the crisis.
Rescue teams rushed to the site
Rescue teams, including the NDRF, rushed to the site soon after the collapse around 2pm. So far, 5-6 people have been pulled out safely, but it's feared that 10-15 more might still be trapped under debris. The area has seen heavy rain lately, but there was no rain at the time of the collapse, making rescue efforts even more challenging. Local police and villagers have also pitched in to help those affected.
