Punjab gets ₹92cr for midday meals in schools
Punjab's midday meal program just got a fresh infusion of ₹46 crore from the central government under the Pradhan Mantri Shakti Nirman Scheme (PM POSHAN).
This means more nutritious meals for students in government schools, from Bal Vatikas up to grade 8.
To make it all work, Punjab will also chip in ₹27.3 crore as part of the funding partnership.
Funds to be sent to schools within a week
All together, Punjab has received ₹92 crore this year for midday meals.
The state finance team is set to send out these funds—and their own share—to schools within a week.
The plan also includes regular health check-ups for students, growing nutrition gardens at schools, and keeping enough food grains stocked up for a month.
Plus, cooks are getting trained and students will get de-worming tablets to help keep everyone healthy and energized at school.
