Punjab IAS officer involved in attempted murder case
A heated argument over sand dumping on a vacant plot in Jalandhar's Chhoti Baradari area led to serious trouble for IAS officer Babita Kaler, her husband Stephen Kaler, and their gunman Shubh Karan Singh.
During the dispute with workers sent by the plot owner, Singh allegedly fired his service revolver, hitting Harpreet Singh in the leg.
Harpreet was hospitalized after the incident.
Kalers say gunman fired in self-defense
Police have charged all three with attempted murder and related offenses under the BNS and Arms Act.
The story has two sides—Stephen Kaler says their gunman fired in self-defense after being threatened by workers, while Harpreet's associate claims the Kalers started the fight.
Right now, police are questioning everyone involved to piece together what really happened.
