Renowned Ranthambhore tigress, Arrowhead, succumbs to brain tumour
Arrowhead, the well-known tigress of Ranthambore National Park and granddaughter of the legendary Machhli, has died at age 11 from a brain tumor.
She was admired for her strength and beauty, with a recent viral video showing her taking down a crocodile—just like her grandmother once did.
Forest staff and wildlife lovers gathered to pay their respects before she was cremated.
Arrowhead raised 10 cubs during her lifetime
Born in 2014, Arrowhead spent most of her life around Nal Ghati and Rajbagh Lake in the park.
She had four litters and raised 10 cubs—six are still alive today.
Guides remember her as carrying forward Machhli's spirit, while park officials say she played a key role in keeping Ranthambore's tiger population strong.
End of an era for Ranthambore
Arrowhead's passing comes soon after her daughter Kankati was relocated to another reserve following two human deaths.
With Arrowhead gone, many feel it marks the end of an era for Ranthambore's tiger community.
