Retired IAS officer faces FIR for threatening journalist and child

In Assam, retired IAS officer Hitesh Dev Sarma has been hit with an FIR after allegedly threatening journalist Rana Deka and his eight-year-old son.
The threats came soon after Deka reported on Sarma's son, a police officer, being caught on video using force against protesters outside Baksa district jail.

What's happening now

Police have charged Sarma under sections related to criminal intimidation, intentional insult, and obscene acts.
Deka says Sarma accused him of sharing "morphed" videos and threatened harm to both him and his child—Deka even handed over an audio recording as proof.
Police have already called Deka in for a statement and plan to question Sarma next.
