Sabarimala tightens darshan bookings after massive crowd

India

After a huge rush of devotees—almost two lakh in just two days—the Sabarimala temple has capped daily spot bookings for darshan at 5,000 until November 24.
Now, you can only get these limited slots at Nilakkal and Vandiperiyar centers; all other counters are closed.
If you're planning a visit, the TDB recommends using the Virtual Queue system instead.

Court steps in for better facilities

The Kerala High Court isn't just watching from the sidelines—it's told temple authorities to upgrade basic amenities right away.
That means installing at least 1,000 bio-toilets, ensuring steady drinking water, and setting aside rooms that can be booked online at Sannidhanam.
The court made it clear: environmental limits shouldn't come before pilgrims' safety or dignity.
Multilingual help desks and an online grievance portal are also on the way to make things smoother for everyone visiting.
