SCR is fencing off tracks to make trains faster and safer

India

South Central Railway (SCR) has launched a massive ₹3,200 crore project to fence and wall off over 4,400km of busy train routes.
The goal? Keep people, animals, and vehicles off the tracks so trains can safely hit speeds up to 130km/h on major lines like Secunderabad-Kazipet and Vijayawada-Kondapalli.

What's actually changing?

They're building over 4,000km of tough fencing plus boundary walls—think "no more random crossings."
Special subways are also being added near stations so locals can cross safely without dodging trains.

How's it going so far?

SCR has already finished 875km of fencing across key divisions like Secunderabad and Vijayawada.
With more walls and subways underway, the plan is to seal off tracks completely—making train journeys both quicker and a lot safer for everyone.
