South Calcutta Law College halts classes amid gang-rape investigation

India

South Calcutta Law College has put all classes on hold indefinitely after a first-year student was gang-raped on campus.
The move, which affects both BA LLB and LLM students, comes as people across the country express shock and anger over the June 25 incident.

Three arrested, including security guard

Kolkata Police have sealed parts of the college while they investigate. So far, the main accused Monojit Mishra, two senior students, and a security guard have been arrested.
Medical reports and CCTV footage back up the survivor's statement—showing she was dragged into a guard's room and assaulted.
The suspension will stay in place until further notice as police continue their work.
