Supreme Court grants bail to Kerala journalist
Kerala journalist Nandakumar TP has been granted interim bail by the Supreme Court after seeking anticipatory bail for a defamation case linked to his YouTube channel, "Crime Online."
The controversy centers around a video he posted that allegedly contained derogatory comments about a female politician.
The top court also sent notices to the Kerala government about how the case is being handled.
Case will be heard in 6 weeks
If Nandakumar is arrested again, the Supreme Court says he should be released on bail after providing a bond and sureties.
Earlier, the Kerala High Court had denied him anticipatory bail and told him to surrender first.
Now, his case will be heard again in six weeks.
He faces charges under new criminal laws and the IT Act for allegedly posting content meant to harm the politician's reputation online.
