A man in Telangana's Hanamkonda district has been taken into custody for allegedly murdering his wife and two daughters. The accused, Azaruddin, reportedly drowned his pregnant wife Farhat (26) and their daughters Umera (8) and Ayesha (6). The police suspect the motive behind the crime was Azaruddin's desire for a son. He allegedly drowned Farhat after she refused to abort her third pregnancy, which he feared would once again result in a daughter.

The incident took place at a swimming pool, which he operated, on the outskirts of Punnela village in Ainavolu mandal. After deactivating the CCTV cameras, Azaruddin allegedly pushed Farhat and their daughters into the water. He then drove their bodies to MGM Hospital in Warangal, claiming they had accidentally drowned. However, his story fell apart when Farhat's father raised suspicions about frequent arguments over family planning and pregnancy pressure.

During the preliminary investigation, police discovered that Azaruddin took his wife and daughters out on the pretext of buying ice cream, according to Telangana Today. According to News18, Azaruddin had allegedly forced Farhat to have abortions during two previous pregnancies following the birth of their two daughters, fearing she would give birth to another girl. The family owned a swimming pool near Warangal-Khammam National Highway, which was their main source of income.
