    What's the story

Like every year, this year too we read several stories of fighters who have cleared their boards, despite facing much difficulty.

While a Ghaziabad girl nailed her Class X with 92.4% after losing her father and brother a day before, 16-year-old Bikram Bhattarai from Sikkim wrote his exams with his feet and scored 72%.

Bikram, a government school's student, comes from Sama Lingdum village.

Bikram was born without hands to Januka (mother) and Narpati Bhattarai (father).

Despite that, he showcased impeccable courage and determination.

Today, the 16-year-old can perform various activities with his feet including, eating, bathing, working on laptop and even painting.

In 2010, he was accorded with the National Child Achievement Award by Ministry of Women and Child Welfare for his extraordinary spirit and courage.

In Class XI, he has chosen Science stream with both Biology and Mathematics, and will be studying at a Senior Secondary School in Ranka, Sikkim.

By defeating all odds, Bikram has definitely made his parents proud.

Villagers taunted Bikram's parents for giving birth to him

Meanwhile, Bikram's father expressed his happiness, and said, "He was always a bright child who never lost confidence because of his physical challenges."

"People in the village taunted us for giving birth to a child without hands saying it's a bad omen and would bring bad luck to our family, but the same people now don't stop appreciating Bikram's skills," he added.
