Class X topper, an app developer, wishes to join IIT

After the Central Board of Secondary Education declared the Class X results on Monday, 25 students, who scored 498 marks out of 500, were placed at the second rank all over the country. One of them is Ghaziabad-based Pratham Kumar Shrivastava. Pratham, who wishes to join the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) after school, is already an app developer. Here's his story.

Pratham has scored 100 in four subjects, 98 in English

Pratham, who is a student of the Amity International School, scored 100 marks in all the subjects except for English, where he scored 98 and thinks he is weak at it. He said, "I was unprepared for the English exam and I think that I lost two marks in value-based questions and story writing." For Class XI, he has opted for the Science stream.

Coaching for JEE has begun for this software engineering aspirant

Alongside, Pratham has chosen Computer Science as his optional subject as he wishes to become a software engineer just like his father. In order to prepare for Joint Entrance Examination (JEE), he has started coaching too. While talking to The Indian Express, he said, "My classes began from the first week of April. They have been interesting but the pressure is building up now."

Pratham is already an avid programmer

The 16-year-old has been studying computers since Class VIII, and holds a keen interest in programming. Moreover, he is familiar with web development and uses open-source platforms like App Inventor for Android by Google, now maintained by Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA. "I used to develop applications on MIT App Inventor, but have not got any of them published yet," he said.

Pratham used to play football during board exams to de-stress

While talking about his preparation strategy, Pratham said, "There is no date or time when I started preparing for the exams. It was a phased process." His mother, who is a homemaker and holds an Honors degree in Mathematics, used to tutor him. Meanwhile, Pratham, who likes to read, watch movies and play football, used to play football to de-stress during the board preparation.
