A sad scene unfolded near Berhampur's Lanjipalli area on Odisha's NH-16 when an unknown vehicle struck a herd of cattle, killing 13 and leaving three badly injured.
The surviving animals were rushed to a veterinary hospital for urgent care.
Buried the carcasses
Police, fire crews, and vets arrived quickly. Chief District Veterinary Officer Anjan Das shared that the injured cattle had serious fractures.
All the animals had ear-tags from local authorities, but nobody came forward to claim them—so officials buried the carcasses.
