In Shahjahanpur, Uttar Pradesh, a man named Indra Pratap Singh was fined ₹10,000 after he blocked an ambulance carrying a critically ill woman for nearly six kilometers—even though the siren was on.
The ambulance driver filmed the incident, which went viral on social media on November 20, drawing widespread criticism.

Police action and reminder on civic duty

After the video went viral, police tracked down Singh and issued him a challan under Section 194(E) of the Motor Vehicles Act.
Authorities stressed that making way for ambulances isn't just polite—it's everyone's legal responsibility.
No further criminal charges were filed against Singh, but officials are urging people to always let emergency vehicles pass without delay.
