The Station House Officer of Chhapar police station in Muzaffarnagar district of UP was suspended for allegedly making a casteist remark against a Dalit MLA of the ruling BJP. The SHO, Adesh Tyagi, allegedly made the remark during an argument with the MLA's supporters as he impounded their car because they did not have proper documents. He was suspended last night.
A departmental inquiry, led by DSP Mohammad Rizwan, was initiated against the SHO. On Thursday, the SHO of Charthawal police station, Girish Sharma, was also placed under-suspension. Sharma had booked several local BJP and BKU workers after a confrontation broke out between the two sides. Angry BJP workers, accompanied by MP Sanjeev Balyan, met senior police officials to lodge their protest. Soon after, Sharma was suspended.
